German companies in the time of energy transitionA new project at the Chair of Management and Sustainability
4. Mai 2014
While Germany has an industry based economy, the current energy turnaround (“Energiewende”) imposes new legislative and market based conditions.
One key development is the change of the electricity supply system for organizations in Germany. Since 1991 electricity prices increase disproportionately. For small and medium sized companies they have grown by more than 20%. Also risks regarding security of supply and the development of renewable energies are relevant.
Exceptions for big companies lead to an increased redistribution of the EEG levy compensation at the expense of other companies. A reduction of electricity prices in near future is not to be expected.
Questions that are approached in the study:
- How do companies react on the changes due to the energy transition?
- In particular which opinion do small and medium sized companies have according to the German energy transition?
- To what extend is the energy transition shaped and driven by German companies?
- How do companies evaluate the future energy supply and further development?
