Research
At the Chair of Science Research and Innovation Studies, we analyzse interactions between science, technology and society with a focus on cultures of digitalization. In doing so, we pursue a reflexive perspective on the relationship between science, society and innovation. Previous research projects have dealt with the evidence-based nature of social action, the democratization of science (citizen science, participation, transdisciplinarity) and the dynamics of innovation and legitimation (e.g. via sustainability and inclusion). Sabine Maasen's research focuses firstly on new forms of socially responsible knowledge production (interdisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity, participation), secondly on the connection between forced innovation activity and the social legitimization of research (new social contract with science) and thirdly on science- and technology-related aspects of self-regulation and external regulation of the body (neurogovernmentality, social robotics)
