Linda Schenzle and Timo Busch have recently published a research article titled „Navigating the Net Zero Transition: Towards Improved Effectiveness of Corporate Decarbonization Strategies“ in the journal „Business Strategy and the Environment“. The paper presents the results of a study, in which the authors looked at how companies can better reduce their CO2 emissions to reach net zero and help fight climate change. Despite efforts, emissions are still increasing, and current strategies may not be enough. The researchers used a qualitative approach based on semi-structured expert interviews to find out what helps or hinders these efforts.
The study finds four key areas to improve decarbonization:
1. Rethink what impacts are important
2. Close the mitigation readiness gap
3. Combine climate goals with business strategies
4. Use climate action to create value for companies
These ideas help companies understand how to plan, carry out, and check their efforts to cut emissions more effectively. You can read the entire article here.
