Lena Theiler's dissertation has been published by transcript. The book, entitled 'Nachhaltigkeitsprobleme kommunizieren - Herausforderungen für wissenschaftliche Organisationen’ (translated: 'Communicating sustainability problems - challenges for scientific organisations’), focuses on the fact that communicating sustainability problems such as species extinction poses a double challenge for scientific organisations: On the one hand, they must ensure their own relevance and present scientific content to the public. On the other hand, there are no simple solutions to sustainability problems because they are highly complex and assessments and approaches differ depending on interests and objectives. Lena Theiler uses the example of the Senckenberg – Leibniz Institution for Biodiversity and Earth System with the Senckenber Natural History Museum in Frankfurt am Main to analyse how a scientific organisation tackles this task - including through a participatory exhibition.
