Lea Frerichs is a doctoral candidate and research associate at the Mercator Endowed Chair of Sociology, in particular Social Dynamics of Ecological Transformation at the University of Hamburg. Her research and teaching focus is on legal mobilization in the socio-ecological transformation, with a special focus on climate litigation and protests. She is particularly interested in impact research.
Lea co-authors the annual Climate Change Outlook and is a member of the Center for Sustainable Society Research (CSS), the German Sociological Association (DGS) and the International Sociological Association (ISA). She is part of the Climate Justice Think Lab at Leuphana University Lüneburg, part of the Climate Justice Task Force of the Global Campus of Human Rights and a board member of the EMAlumni Association.
In addition to her academic work, Lea has also been active in advocacy work with the German and European Parliament, with a focus on development cooperation and climate protection.
