Short Biography

Jonas von Bockel is a political scientist at the University of Hamburg, where he has been a Research Associate since 2022. His research focuses on political economy in historical and systematic perspective, the history of political thought, theories of social and regional integration, and theories of international relations. His doctoral project examines the political economy of John Locke. He was a Visiting Researcher at University College London in 2025 and a Short-Term Fellow at the German Historical Institute London in 2026, funded by the Max Weber Foundation. Since May 2026, Jonas has also been a Research Associate at Europa-Kolleg Hamburg.
