We are pleased to welcome again Prof. Gordon Arlen, Assistant Professor of Political Theory at Melbourne University, for his second stint as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the Professorship of Political Theory. Gordon Arlen will be based in Hamburg till the end of January 2026.

Prof. Arlen is one of the leading authors in the history of ideas and political theory of oligarchy.  He has published several articles on the current significance of Aristotle's conception of oligarchy, from within the framework of recent “plebeian” theories of democracy. His book manuscript with the working title Oligarchs among Us is due to be completed this year.
