My research examines what the security promise holds in store for today’s global world. I retrace contemporary contestations about unkept promises across the two norm bundles of war and climate change to identify the stakeholders involved and reconstruct the norm’s meaning-in-use. I am particularly interested in how promises of security are renegotiated in different political arenas and affective (counter-)publics, what pathways to participation emerge, and how the rising role of societal actors transforms state–society relations.
I hold an MA in Political Science from the University of Hamburg, specializing in International Political Theory, and a BA in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz. During my MA, my research drew on contestation theory to examine the agency of civil society actors, particularly their capacity to enable participation and generate knowledge in the fields of climate change and gender equality.
