Project ValuGaps
About the project
Our working group is participating in the research project ValuGaps of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The aim of this project is to eliminate information gaps and uncertainties regarding the valorization of natural capital and biodiversity so that this knowledge can be better incorporated into societal decision-making processes.
Among others, the following research questions will be addressed:
1. Where exactly do we find the biggest information gaps and uncertainties regarding the values of natural capital and biodiversity?
2. How can values be scaled, transferred and bridged?
3) How can decision makers make good use of the valuation of natural capital and biodiversity?
Universities, the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) are involved in ValuGaps to link basic research with methods for broad applicability.
