Letter of Recommendation
Requirements
Students have the opportunity to obtain a letter of recommendation from the Chair of Financial Economics (Derivatives), for example, when applying for a foreign university.
Please note that you must meet certain minimum requirements to receive a letter of recommendation, and you can receive a maximum of two letters . Among other things, the following requirements must be visible:
- Major focus in the field of finance economics (usually evidenced by at least two courses)
- Why can our chair recommend you? (Letter of motivation)
- What interests you in the field of corporate finance? (Letter of motivation)
Application
If you would like to apply for a letter of recommendation, please send the required documents, depending on the application, no earlier than six weeks and no later than two weeks before the submission deadline, to derivate.wiso(at)uni-hamburg.de.
Please send us the following documents:
- Letter of motivation (PDF)
- Curriculum vitae (PDF)
- Current transcript of records (TOR or STiNE printout, each as PDF)
- If available: form sheet of the target university (please fill in personal data in advance!)
In the application email, please include the following information:
- Application deadlines
- Mail address/address of the university for submitting the letter of recommendation
The following aspects should be clarified in the letter of motivation, if possible:
- How long has the evaluator known you and from which event?
- What are your study interests?
- What do you engage in outside of your studies?
- What professional career do you aspire to in the future?
