For the Journal of Industrial Ecology's recently published special issue consisting of eight papers on different aspects of biodiversity finance, Enrico Bennetto (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology), Timo Busch (University of Hamburg), Francesca Verones and Richard Wood (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) have written the editorial.
In their article titled "Biodiversity finance: Measuring and managing biodiversity in companies and financial markets" the authors point out that the financial sector and economic activities are intervowen with biodiversity. They stress the (new) financial risks that are associated with biodiversity loss and call for a joint effort from researchers, policy makers and actors in the financial markets to foster and facilitate the inclusion of biodiversity considerations in financial risk analyses.
