Sustainability and investment behavior
Impact investing refers to “Investments made into companies, organizations, and funds with the intention to generate social and environmental impact alongside a financial return” (GIIN). Impact investing, if performed properly, can help unleash the full potential of capital markets to drive positive social and environmental change. Research on impact investing and related topics is still in its infancy, and the demand for more research in this area is increasing rapidly. We specifically chose to focus our research on the investment behavior of high net worth individuals (HNWIs) with regards to impact investing, because this particular group is currently driving the growing impact investing market. The fusion of impact investing and private wealth could help transform the financial system in such a way that it no longer jeopardizes, but instead helps secure the future of humanity.
