Research
Currently, my research work focuses on three major areas:
- With the BMBF research group "GLOCALPOWER" I am exploring governance and the political economy of African energy transitions with case studies in Ghana, Zambia and South Africa
- Green governmentalities and postcolonial statehood: modes of governance, strategies of subjectification and the discovery of the subalterns in REDD+ programs.
- International Relations in the Anthropocene
Earlier research projects dealt for example with the shape and structure of external energy relations between the EU and emerging powers (a joint project of TU Darmstadt and nine other partners in Brazil, China, India and South Africa). In my dissertation, I examined governmentality and normative power in EU-Africa relations by focusing on the negotiations for Economic Partnership Agreements.
