Arriving by train
Long-distance trains stopping at Dammtor station: Take the Moorweide exit (not the exhibition halls exit) and continue on foot (approx. 5-10 minutes). Turn left into Edmund-Siemers-Allee, walk along the other side of the street, pass the main university building, and turn diagonally right from Edmund-Siemers-Allee into Grindelallee.
Follow Grindelallee on the right-hand side, then turn right into Grindelhof. Allendeplatz begins at the Abaton cinema – the next building is the “Pferdestall” (horse stable), Allendeplatz 1 (the actual home of the Department of Social Sciences).
Currently, you have to walk past this building to get to the campus, leaving the “Campus-Alster” (polygonal water basin) on your left and heading for the building at Von-Melle-Park 9, the former HWP (University of Economics and Politics). The building can be recognized by a large mural commemorating fascist crimes during the Nazi dictatorship.
Arrival from the Airport Hamburg
From the airport, you can continue your journey by taxi, rental car, or public transportation. Take the S-Bahn S1 toward Ohlsdorf, change there to the U1 toward Farmsen/Großhansdorf, travel to the Hallerstraße stop, and continue on foot (approx. 10 minutes). Information on connections, travel times, and prices is available from the Hamburg Transport Association HVV.
