The Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis announces the Vera E. Troeger Scholarship for Women in Political Methodology. These awards are intended to encourage methodological training among female graduate students in political science and to honour the work of Professor Vera E. Troeger, a leading figure in quantitative political science research and a distinguished voice in the promotion of women in political science.
The Vera E. Troeger scholarship provides a tuition waiver to attend either a one or two-week course offered by the Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis in 2023.
The Vera E. Troeger scholarship is open to:
- Candidates who identify as women
- Students who are enrolled in a PhD programme at a university located in Europe
Selection criteria:
- Scholarships will be awarded based on how the applicant’s experience at the Essex Summer School would assist them in completing their degree programme.
Points to note:
- Successful applicants will be required to submit an ESS application form within 2 weeks of receiving notice of the award. If the application form is not received within this timeframe, ESS maintains the right to withdraw the award and offer it to another candidate.
- By accepting the scholarship, you are agreeing to be included in ESS promotional material, including photography that could be used on the ESS website.
Scholarship application process.
To apply for the scholarship, please submit the following materials to: essexsummerschoolssdascholarship@essex.ac.uk
- A cover letter stating your research area and how the applicant’s experience at the Essex Summer School would assist them in completing their degree programme. Please indicate which course you would most like to take.
- A current CV
- One letter of recommendation. Please ensure the email subject line clearly states the name of the applicant applying for the award.
Please note: Should you be the successful recipient of the Vera E. Troeger award, you will also be required to submit an ESS application form. If your attendance at the Essex Summer School is dependant upon you receiving an award, please refrain from applying until after the outcome has been announced.
Application deadline: Saturday 15th April 2023
Successful applicants will be notified within one calendar month of this date. We regret that it will not be possible to respond to unsuccessful applicants.
