The Bachelor program in economics is taught in German
You will need very good German language skills to attend the Bachelor program. Courses will be in German and you will take the exams in German, too. This pertains to the compulsory part of the course work during the first two years of the program. In the final year, you will have a choice of advanced courses taught in English.

English language skills
Much of the reading material – textbooks and research literature that you will be working with – will be in English. Proficiency in English is therefore indispensable, too.
The importance of strong math skills
You can only converse in a foreign language if you know the vocabulary and master the grammar. Studying economics is no different. The economy is a complex dynamic system. You will study this system step-by-step and you will how to put the pieces together.
Mathematics is the equipment that you will need for studying economics. Math will help you apply theoretical models to come to sound conclusions. You will need differential calculus and optimization methods to analyze the effects of taxes and duties on corporate decisions, for example. You will also work on having a very good grasp of statistics to gather and analyze data. Econometrics will allow you to assess your hypotheses.
