"Die Gesellschaft der Nachhaltigkeit" by Sighard Neckel et al. (The Society of Sustainabilty)Umrisse eines Forschungsprogramms (Outline of a Research Program)
27 January 2018
Sustainability has become a central theme in the public sphere and a key concept in social change. Numerous institutions, businesses, organistions and public entities invoke sustainability as a core value and as a guiding principle for their actions. The notion of sustainability has diversified in many directions and has been cited to support quite contradictory agendas.
Sighard Neckel and his research team based in Hamburg explore in this publication the social dimensions of sustainability as well as the paradoxes related to a sustainable development. Fundamental sociological perspectives on sustainability are included as well as some outlooks on specific sociological research areas on social conflicts around sustainability.
