Katrin Talke joined Hamburg University in January 2010 and holds the chair of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. 

She holds a Diploma of Business Administration from Freie University of Berlin, and a Doctorate from Technical University of Berlin. The Venia Docendi for Business Administration was granted by Karl-Franzens University Graz. At Delft University of Technology she has been working for two years in the Product Innovation Management Department at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.

Katrin’s research interests focus on entrepreneurship, innovation management and marketing. She is addressing questions surrounding the launch and commercialization of new products, the innovation field orientation of firms and the performance impact of product design. In these fields, she is cooperating with international researchers like Professor Erik Jan Hultink (TU Delft), Sören Salomo (DTU Copenhagen), Gina O’Connor (RPI Troy) and Abbie Griffin (University of Utah). She has published several articles in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Research Policy, IEEE-Transactions on Engineering Management, the Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, and Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft. In addition, her research has been reported in the commercial press, such as Daily Mail, MSNBC, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Financial Times Deutschland, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, or Die Welt. 

Katrin has won several international best paper awards, including the Jürgen-Hauschildt-Preis 2010 for the best academic publication in innovation management, the Thomas P. Hustad JPIM Best Paper Award for the most relevant article published in 2009 in the Journal of Product Innovation Management, the Christer Karlsson Award of the International Product Development Management Conference 2008, the Best Paper Award of the Conference of Theory and Practice of Entrepreneurship 2007, and the Best Paper Award Innovation Management from the European Business School in 2006. 

Before starting her academic career, Katrin worked as a management consultant at Andersen Consulting and as Assistant to the CEO at Mitsubishi Motors.
