Doctorate in Cultural and Global Criminology (DCGC)

The Doctorate in Cultural and Global Criminology is a three-year collaborative programme designed to bring together the expertise and strengths of four Universities with international reputations in the field to establish a European centre of excellence in international criminology. The DCGC is funded by the European Commission under the prestigious and highly competitive Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral scheme (EMJD).
The collaborating Universities are:
- The University of Kent (Prof Dr Chris Hale, School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research)
- The University of Hamburg (Prof Dr Sebastian Scheerer, Social Sciences Department)
- The Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest (Prof Dr Miklós Lévay, Law Department)
- The Utrecht University (Prof Dr Dina Siegel, Law Department).
The Doctoral programme will allow candidates to engage with a wide range of aspects of international criminology including human rights and international security policy, local and global culture and media, social change and exclusion as well as transnational environmental issues.
The establishment of this interdisciplinary consortium gives students exposure to a rich, diverse research environment, contact with researchers from a broad range of subject areas, participation in multidisciplinary research seminars and international conferences.
The details of the programme can be found on the following web page: http://www.dcgc.eu/
