Orientation services

We offer a broad array of services to make sure you get off to a good start and are ready to embark on the programme:

Information package

As soon as you have gained a place and been accepted, we will be sending you a comprehensive information package. In addition, you will have access to the internal section of our website. There you will find a whole host of information to facilitate your arrival and your preparations for the next two years.

Orientation Days

In the week before lectures start, we organise orientation days to acquaint you with the infrastructure of the university, the city of Hamburg and provide you with all the other vital information you need: The topics covered include the programme, its structure and individual design. The orientation days give you an opportunity to get to know your fellow students and the various contacts within our university.

Buddy programme

Following admission, you will be in email contact with students from the preceding year. The “oldies” help the “freshers” with answers to their questions, find a flat or room, and generally get established here in Hamburg. This will give you your first contacts. Over the years, the buddy programme has produced many international friendships that have enriched the experience of studying in Hamburg.

The University of Hamburg also offers a Buddy Program for all the new students.
