The health care sector represents both one of the most important growth markets as well as one of the biggest employers in German economy. Almost every ninth German employee works in health care related domains. Given the increasing individual responsibility of market participants and the intensifying competitive constraints, the demand for highly skilled managers with (health) economic expertise grows steadily. The health care sector provides manifold potential for graduates in several areas such as industrial domains (medical engineering, bioengineering, pharmaceutical industry), service domains (health insurances, hospitals, MP networks), consulting and/or globally operating enterprises.
Due to the institutional complexity of the health care market managers, who intend to work in various operating areas, require a very specific specialist and methodological knowledge. Comprehensive knowledge of methodology is gained during the business management classes (marketing, controlling, financing etc.). In our health care management classes students shall be trained to become familiar with the central issues and characteristics of health care management within the area of business administration. Our students shall learn about theoretical and methodological principles in a practical approach to be able to develop analysis and evaluations as a basis for managerial decisions in the various areas of the health care market by themselves. This is how our students will become attractive personalities for health care companies for both career entry and managerial positions later on as well as for consulting.
One of our basic concerns is to combine training and research. Dedicated students will be given the opportunity to participate in research projects for their bachelor or master thesis. Furthermore we maintain effective relations with companies of the health care labor market which can be used for internerships or career entries.
