What is Health Care Management?

The department of Health Care Management formulates the conceptual frameworks that facilitate problem solving for organizations working in the field of healthcare. These organizations include both service enterprises (such as hospitals, ambulant centers, medical care centers, and health insurance companies) and industrial enterprises (such as medical technology, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies).

The multifaceted problems that arise in the daily business routine of health care enterprises span the range from financial deficits caused by inadequate strategic planning to insufficient controllability entailed by the absence of specifically accustomed cost accounting systems to inappropriate health care service for chronically ill patients emanating from the uncoordinated actions of the dispersed participants in the health care system.

The distinctive feature of the department of Health Care Management is its institutional orientation. The department draws on extensive research base from multiple business disciplines (such as management, finance, marketing, etc.) as well as economics and other solution-focused disciplines.
