The Department of Business Administration (BWL) at Universität Hamburg has been realigned as part of the Bologna Process and has undergone a generational transition. Teaching now focuses on the newly designed bachelor’s and master’s programs, which provide training in research methods as well as a large number of subject options enabling students to specialize in a wide variety of fields.
Our teaching is based on nine major areas of research:
- Finance and insurance
- Healthcare management
- Marketing and the media
- Operation and supply chain management
- Business law
- Statistics and econometrics
- Business management
- Business information technology
- Auditing and taxation
We attribute considerable significance to the standard at which our degree courses are administered. Each degree course is monitored by one of our professors, who assumes the role of curse director.
The course directors are usually also the chairs of the Board of Examiners, which takes responsibility for all the decisions relating to the examinations in the programs.
Course directors are provided with administrative assistance by the relevant course coordinators and curriculum and examination managers in the Office of Academic Affairs for Business Economics.
